voip.ms: call forwarding?
I'm currently using callwithus for call forwarding to my cell phone. I wanted to give voip.ms a try.
When I setup voip.ms like I do with CWU (ie: password:username in the password field, username field blank), it doesn't work - I get ResetCDR. I can't get it to work correctly.
Has anyone used voip.ms this way before?
Thanks!
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
I have not used them, I use voicetrading and there the trick in the password field: password:username and username blank causes caller id to be forwarded to my mobile.
I don't know if voip.ms allows you to set any caller id, maybe not. In that case you would have to use the regular setting for username and password and the caller id of the one that calls you is not forwarded.
form their website faq
Do you pass callerid?
On our premium route, All US/Canada destinations will receive proper callerid. On the value route, we can not guarantee callerid will pass 100% of the time but it should in most cases.
So they can forward caller id when you activate callforwarding at their site. I assume that you now do forwarding through pbxes. I also says that on non premium routes they can't guarantee call forwarding.
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
Hi bobmats,
Sorry for taking so long to write back.
Like I said in my first post, I'm doing the password:username trick for voip.ms (using premium routes) and it doesn't work - but it does work with CWU. :/
The only way I can get the voip.ms trunk to work is when I fill in both the username and password field. Then, obviously, CID forwarding doesn't work - but at least the call completes.
Are there any other tricks for me to try? What would cause a ResetCDR from voip.ms? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
I use Voip.ms for call forwarding and they work with forwarding CID.
Make sure you have one trunk with the same username/password combination registered on the same voip.ms server. Then the username blank and password = password:username trick works with a trunk that's not set to register.
Hope this helps.
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
Hi ayking!
Are you saying you have two trunks setup for voip.ms? Thus you have two voip.ms subaccounts?
trunk1: voip.ms1
username: voip.ms username (subaccount 1)
password: voip.ms password
Register: yes
trunk2: voip.ms2
username:
password: password:username (subaccount 2)
Register: no
Is this right? Thanks a bunch for confirming that it can work!
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
Nope, it's the same voip.ms subaccount.
Trunk1: voip.ms
username: voip.ms username
password: voip.ms password
server: sip??.us.voip.ms
register: yes
Trunk2: voip.ms CID
username: <blank>
password: password:username
server: same server as trunk1
register: no
RE: voip.ms: call forwarding?
ayking,
That worked great! How did you figure that out?
Anyway, thanks a lot!
